Brantly Sheffield

Brantly Sheffield is an artist based in Dallas, Texas. He maintains an active studio practice in the Tin District, a small community of artists' studios in West Dallas. Sheffield's work centers on drawing and painting as a relational practice grounded in time, attention and shared experience. Working primarily from life, he spends extended periods with his partner, friends, and members of his community, allowing conversation and presence to shape both the process and resulting image. In his studio practice, Sheffield is deeply invested in building spaces of engagement, through sustained one-on-one encounters or through the collective energy of shared studio environments, intimate places and events. At the same time, he values periods of solitude as essential to reflection and artistic growth.
