Two influences inform my work. First, manufacturing and its parade of products, objects, and devices. Some of these objects are needed and desired, while some serve a utilitarian purpose, and are ultimately discarded. In whatever context these objects are viewed, they are omnipresent in our everyday world. Can we, as creatives, use these objects to capture moments that are overlooked, finding beauty in the routine and ordinary? This suggests the idea that creative inspirations are not confined to high culture but can be found in the fabric of daily experience.
Second, my desire to include playfulness in my work as a catalyst for inspiration. Play is not a luxury, nor relegated only to a child. It should be available to all, at any age. I believe play is an incubator of learning, a prelude to serious ideas and unexpected juxtapositions.
I believe these influences are liberating, democratic sensibilities for transforming art, thus life. It is my hope that this work becomes a testimonial that is indicative of a new and inventive landscape.
