K.I.

My work is an exploration of the space where language fails and visual storytelling begins. Driven by life experiences, the complexities of family, and social dynamics, I treat the canvas as a response to the world around me and a way to translate the internal landscape of my mind into a tangible, emotive reality. Through a process rooted in raw intuition, I seek to prove that dialogue is not a requirement for depth; sometimes, the tension between a jagged mark of red and a specific shade of blue tells a more complete story than words ever could.
At the core of my practice is a fascination with the boundaries of the human form. I am obsessed with the "breaking point" of anatomy, constantly questioning how far a figure can be distorted, stretched, or deconstructed before it loses its identity as "human and find the exact edge where the body ceases to be a literal representation and becomes an abstract vessel for pure emotion. To explore this, I rely on the physical friction of my materials, the crumble of chalk, the smear of oil pastels, and the fluid nature of paint. I further ground my "fictional" worlds by incorporating found materials and "trash" scavenged from the real world, creating a textured history on the surface that mirrors the complexity of the human experience.
This process is, fundamentally, my vital escape. As someone who navigates overthinking and anxiety, the studio is the one sanctuary where I can bypass my internal critic and let the "flow" take over. In this space, there are no errors, only unexpected reactions that I incorporate into the final piece. Every splatter and fingerprint is an intentional part of the visual chemistry
