Leili Arai Tavallaei

Leili Arai Tavallaei is an interdisciplinary artist, independent curator, and cultural organizer on the Board of the Dallas Asian American Art Collective. She is a mixed culture keeper with Persian-Japanese-Texan roots, raised by working parents in the suburbs of north Houston. She translates family photographs, immigrant clutter, and childhood memories of Texas through video installation, printed media, and found object paintings. Her work operates as both an archive and diary where making, processing, and connection are essential. Ultimately her work is for people at the crossroads of nostalgia and reality. She has exhibited across the USA and holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
